We’ve been focused on building a platform that’s powering the surge in mobile commerce. After experiencing continuous, rapid growth over the past year, we’re investing in building and enhancing a product that will help our now more than 3,000 customers’ businesses continue to grow.


Over the last year, both mobile use and e-commerce saw tremendous growth. As consumers embraced e-commerce at unprecedented rates, our goal has been to help our customers meet the moment, offering a new way for how they can interact with their audiences and drive revenue. Our business grew right alongside our customers–– and we’re committed to continuing to power  their growth.

Personalized text messaging is quickly becoming the default way consumers and brands connect. As more and more brands of all sizes adopt SMS marketing programs, we’re investing more in our product to scale and mature our platform, expand into new territories, and continue to build our team to support our customers and the future of e-commerce for decades to come. 

We’re excited to share that we’ve raised an additional $470 million Series E dedicated to developing powerful solutions that will help our customers drive more online sales. To date, Attentive has raised $866M and now has over $770M of cash on hand, having spent less than $100M of the previously raised funds. We plan to aggressively use these funds to invest in the direct-to-consumer e-commerce ecosystem.


What we’ve been building

In 2020, our customer base grew by more than 270% and we now power personalized text messaging programs for over 3,000 pioneering businesses from large enterprises to fast-growth entrepreneurs. As brands and consumers shifted their shopping online, we’ve helped humanize the customer experience and deliver seamless transactions for mobile shoppers, delivering billions of dollars in revenue for our customers. 

We're so impressed by the success our customers have driven with SMS. To celebrate their unique and creative text messaging examples—and provide inspiration for others—this week we launched Texts We Love, a browsable resource featuring messages that engage subscribers and drive mobile revenue. 

These personalized connections have proven to be incredibly impactful. On average, our customers drive 18.5% of their total online revenue through text messaging. 

Consumers have fundamentally shifted their shopping habits in the past year, expecting companies to meet them where they are—on their mobile devices. The majority of consumers now rely on mobile to shop online and expect brands to engage in two-way, real-time conversations personalized to their needs.

We’ve empowered our customers to turn SMS into an integral part of their marketing stack by adding dozens integrations. From improving mobile shopping experiences to facilitating cross-channel orchestration, we’re proud to partner with leading solutions our customers care about—including Shopify Plus and Salesforce

To make all of that happen, we’ve expanded our team to almost 700 employees across the United States. We’re excited to double down on the innovation our team is driving and bring more talented folks on board to continue to define this quickly evolving channel. 


Fueling our next stage of growth 

Our mission is to help brands define—and power—the future of e-commerce. After helping our customers adapt to the surge in e-commerce over the past year, we are in a strong financial position to invest in their continued growth. 

Several of our existing investors—Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, Tiger Global, and IVP—along with a new investor, Base10 Partners, participated in the most recent round of funding.

What’s next: More actionable data, deeper integrations, and expansion 

Two-way conversations are shaping the future of e-commerce. Equipping our customers with the data they need to not just understand their audience, but effectively engage with them, is essential to helping them drive more revenue with personalized text messaging. 

We’re providing our customers with deeper data and analytics, so they can send thoughtful personalized recommendations and start conversations that increase basket size and purchase frequency.

We’re also deepening our partnerships and integrations with our customers’ most trusted solution providers. These partnerships allow us to analyze even more data, empowering our customers to send the right message to the right subscriber at exactly the right moment. 

Consumers are more eager than ever to communicate with their favorite brands via text messaging. We’re excited to continue helping retail & e-commerce, food, beverage, restaurant, entertainment, and media brands build human connections with their audience via SMS.
